Perry Mason and I played a show at AgLago’s 4/20 house party. Perry Mason loaded everything up to Dark Sky’s Tremor, then we played back and forth until I took over at Javier Estrada’s Voces Del Viento. Perry started recording about three songs in to his set. This coming Friday, Levi’s invades O20. Last year this was pretty fun, and this years should be crazy. They have more product to debut and limited edition custom tees from O20, Ritte, and Moth Attack. Proceeds from the t-shirts to benefit the Bicycle Kitchen, Bikes to Rwanda and the Encino Velodrome. Come out, buy a T-shirt, checkout the new line and have a beer on Levi’s. Spread the word!!!

When I saw on facebook that Ag Lag was having a party on my birthday I got stoked because I wanted to DJ my own birthday. I asked, and even though none of them had heard me play before, they said yes. I don’t own any equipment or anything, so I asked Alaska if he could bring his set-up and I could ask Ag Lago if he could DJ too. Of course Ag Lago was down. I knew everything would come together last second and kick ass and it did. Instead of Alaska’s set up, Jon brought his bigger Native Instruments S4 controller and a crazy iPad controlled light set up (and he played a kick ass set, yeah lots of shit kicked ass that night). The only other time I had Djed in front of people was spontaneously at FISHMOUND, but this Ag Lago party felt like my real first time.
Thanks Jon, Alaska, Daniel, and Newark for your musical support.
I saw this message in my FB inbox today:
We are sad to say we have to move locations for Sundays in LA. El Cid was a great place and we really loved it. The employees were great and we all really wanted to make it work. However, the neighbors weren’t on the same page and kept causing trouble on the noise complaint front. We do look forward to working with El Cid on future events, but for now we must turn the volume up.
With that, we will be going to back to our Hollywood roots and excited to take our party to Cabana Club on Ivar next to Amoeba. It has a great outdoor area, more space for more people, as well as sangria, delicious food options, lots of parking and less chance for noise complaints (yes, we can blast it).
Here are some photos from the last Do-Over at El Cid. Click these photos for more photos.
The last Do-Over was weird. I saw a couple fights, which I’ve never seen at this event. I have tons of pictures of all that shit, but I’m not posting any of it because I’m staying positive. Hopefully nobody brings that attitude to the Cabana Club.
As always, click the photos for more photos. And please, help me with some of the MC’s and DJ’s names that I could not figure out.
The Do-Over was rad. It’s always rad.
DJ Ayres set made me crap my pants. He played half dancehall 7″ vinyl (including some El General, which, if you know me, makes me crazy) and half bass driven dutch house raver scum on 7″ Serato (never knew 7″ Serato existed). I loved it.
I ate a burger for breakfast and lunch upstairs, it was amazing.
DJ Neil Armstrong was also amazing. I left when DJ Higher started.
