Portland Decompression and Newark’s Birthday at Casa de Angelopes
Let me tell you I was not in a good mood before this party, but there is something about breaking shit and making shit with your friends that puts you in a good mood. At least it worked for me. Hopefully you can find some stuff to break and a place where it’s not going to piss anyone off so you can work your shit off too. For me that place was Casa de Angelopes.
When I got there it was the cleanest I had ever seen it. The floor was swept and the bowling alley was together and straight. It was a mess five minutes after people started to bowl. Guests and hosts were hurling what ever they wanted down the lane; CRT monitors, bowling balls, bicycle wheels, and even pins! Neglected warning howls of, “BOWLING,” filled the air. Alcohol was abused. Fun was consumed.

Homebrew Tattoos and FUNDERSTORM at Casa de Angelopes
Brad from FUNDERSTORM was kind enough to give me a ride to Inglewood to hang out at Casa de Angelopes. It’s basically a big warehouse that a bunch of friends got together to live, work, and play in. They have a bike shop, a music studio, free clothes pile. They are regular dumpster divers, but Pretty Boy’s car hasn’t been working, so the community food pile was small, so he told me. No worries though, Brad came through with a box of wine and a handful of baguettes.
Friend got his first tattoo. No sweat. Just a couple cigarettes and whatever was in that Micky D’s iced coffee cup.
FUNDERSTORM also played.
Sometimes it’s hard to say who is in the band. I like to think we all are. All one two thousand something of us, right? <3
Salton Sea 4
Everybody is talking about Salton Sea 4. Have you seen how many people are confirmed, as in people that have actually paid the five bucks and everything? I haven’t seen it, but the last number I heard was 188. That means Salton Sea 4 will have over 200 people. 200+ freaks in the So Cal desert. Wow.
The east side is bringing the whole bar thing. The west side has got the electric assist bike cart speaker system with the flame thrower on top. That’s pretty cool.
And I just found out I’m going! O_o
I’ve got a few things on my to-do list while I’m at Salton Sea. I want to shoot Dylan “Fish and Chips” doing fixie tricks near Salvation Mountain. I might drink some home brew, I might DJ an hour long Harry Nilsson set early in the morning. I want to go swimming in the cold water aqueduct, and, yes, for the very first time, I plan on visiting the hot springs. I’m going to have breakfast food at whatever time from that diner a few miles from camp. And I’m going to land a clean 180 on my BMX.
Nobody is going to get hurt, I wont lose anything, and my camera will not get broken. Hallelujah!
Oh, and I’m gonna take a couple photos.
C.R.A.N.K. Mob | February
On Saturday night I made it from my apartment in Downtown to Spoke(n) Art in NELA to Dinner House M in Echo Park to C.R.A.N.K. Mob on the West Side. I got home just before sunrise, which is early for a Mob, but whatevs.
