Josef Bray-Ali and Stephen Box on Neon Tommy
If you didn’t know, there are many elections tomorrow. For District 4 City Council -> VOTE BOX
Jussi Jormanainen from the Annenberg School for Communication’s news blog Neon Tommy made this video about Stephen Box and the people behind his campaign for City Council District 4.
And Josef, the party isn’t over!
Team Pigeon Track Bike
Flying Pigeon LA Bike Shop powder coated a batch of bikes and I was lucky enough to toss in an old KHS Flite 100 frame and fork. Here’s the catch, I had no choice or idea what the color was going to be. I went for it and got super lucky (it could have been periwinkle blue or something ridiculous like that).
As you can see they did a batch in forest green. I really love how a fresh coat of paint brings out the dents, lol.
They even tapped and faced the bottom bracket. So clean! Now I can say, “my bike’s been tapped!” Thanks Flying Pigeon!
Spoke(n) Art Ride Bikes
Some people go to art shows. Some people ride to art shows on art.

This is Tonight, in a Couple Hours
From Flying Pigeon LA Blog:
Flying Pigeon LA bike shop and the Bike Oven bike repair collective are teaming up, Transformer style, to co-present another Spoke(n) Art Ride on Saturday, February 12, 2011.
Meet at the Flying Pigeon/Bike Oven bicycle complex (3714 N. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90065) at 6pm. The ride leaves at 6:30pm on a tour of galleries open for NELAart’s Second Saturday event. The ride visits several galleries, alleys, backyards, artists’ studios, etc. eventually returning to the start point at around 10:30pm.
The ride pace is non-athletic, with a heavy dose of conversation-focused riding. Bring a working bike, some blinkie lights (available for sale from $15 at Flying Pigeon LA), a couple of bucks for refreshments along the route, a cell phone, and a willingness to share an adventure with a diverse group of people on bikes.
The start point is convenient to the Metro’s Gold Line Heritage Square station. We’re also served by 24-hour bus service via the 81 and the 83 Metro buses (to Downtown from which you can transfer to other buses). Driving a car to our bike ride? 110N, exit Avenue 43, we’re on the corner of Avenue 37 and North Figueroa Street (across from the park).
