If you want to see this photo . . .

. . . you’ll have to go to your local bike shop and pick up a copy of next month’s Urban Velo. Until then, feel free to browse over a hundred other great photos of the 2013 Crash Race here.
Occupy Los Angeles | Day 6
Dr. Cornel West spoke twice today. In the audience was Tavis Smiley. The Library has more books and is more organized. Waste management improves. Relationship with the local police continues to grow. Even the bikeshop has even seen some love.

And according to Occupy La Media, “Current TV’s Countdown host, Keith Olbermann, and CNN’s Anderson Cooper will both be at City Hall tomorrow, at 5pm, to report on the Occupy LA movement.”
My Road Bike Was Stolen
I went to a house party near Santa Monica and Vermont. I locked the front wheel to the frame with one ulock, and the back wheel to the frame with the other ulock. So the bike was “free locked.” I felt safe because there were tons of bikes around the inside of a fenced yard and most of the bikes were free locked or not locked at all. Plus my friends were there. But you can’t be too safe in LA. I fucked up, and now I’m paying the price.
Jamis carbon road bike, mismatched 105 group, Bontrager carbon seatpost, old ass Bontrager SPDs, crappy “track” wheel on the front.
My Jamis has a strange chrome seat post clamp. It also has a orangish red derailleur hanger that did not come on the original.
The stickers are probably off, but if they aren’t it’s got some rare to LA ones: Trackstar, W-BASE, and a over-sized “Jesus is coming soon, are you ready” bumper sticker.
This bike was my baby. I got it because I got hired to do a promotional bicycle tour for a vodka brand. The day I got home from that tour, my other bike got stolen during a bike radio show, so this roadie has been my only wheels for two years. I’ve got nothing else working right now, but if you’ve been watching my flickr, I’m sure you know what’s coming next, someday, eventually.
